    Reporting to the National Physical Damage Manager, this position will be responsible for reviewing and auditing vehicle damage and/or property damage appraisals to ensure that the estimates written are appropriate, fair and accurate. If/when discrepancies exist, the auditor will negotiate an agreeable price based on industry standards and company guidelines. Other essential job responsibilities include:


    • Audit vehicle and/or property damage appraisals conducted by third parties, by using standard appraisal guidelines and industry standards to determine an accurate cost of repairs for insurance claims and settlements.
    • Verify accuracy of figures, calculations and transactions recorded by third party appraisers, documents discrepancies and contacts appraisers/estimators when discrepancies arise.
    • Investigate availability of all part sources when preparing damage estimates.
    • Review and confirm actual cash value on total loss vehicles; moves salvage when possible.
    • Thoroughly document each audit procedure to support work performed and results obtained.
    • Provide support to the Claims Reps on the physical damage aspects of their claims.
    • Track and prepare reports supporting a variety of desk review data to present to Manager on a weekly basis.
    • Perform initial vehicle or other property damage appraisal, when necessary, to determine cost of repairs by examining vehicle or other property to determine extent of damage.


    • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience is preferred
    • Requires one to three years of Appraisal experience.
    • Must be familiar with Electronic Estimating System (i.e. Mitchell, CCC, ADP)
    • Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Windows, Excel).
    • Must have strong negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required
    • Must have excellent customer service skills, as well as proven oral and written communication skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication, time management, organization and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) as well as the calculation of averages and percentages.
