Reporting to the Manager of Retail Sales, the Sales Supervisor
supervises members of the sales staff (may include members of sales support or sales agents); monitors call volume and agent availability; acts as a resource for sales staff regarding approvals for exceptions, interpretation of underwriting guidelines and customer problems/complaints; and monitors daily new business reports.
Other essential job responsibilities will include:
Conduct quarterly meetings with sales staff in order to facilitate communication and training regarding company policies and procedures and to discuss pertinent issues.
Provide formal performance feedback to staff in the form of individual performance objectives and annual performance evaluations according to established timelines.
Assist with the training of new sales staff members including system training and training regarding underwriting guidelines and acceptable risks. Assist in setting up their systems, phones and work areas.
Monitor incoming phone volume as it relates to phone availability among agents. Ensure that agents are logged into the phone system and available to take calls, especially during peak call periods.
Handle complaint calls from customers when the complexity or severity of the issue is beyond the scope of the agent or support staff member. Initiate steps necessary to correct problems and see issues through to satisfactory resolution.
Participate in sales meetings, seminars, contests and training activities to drive sales and stay current with market trends, regulations, products, underwriting guidelines and rate revisions.
Minimum three years of auto insurance experience in the areas of sales or underwriting required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Property and Casualty License is required.
