Overview

Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Contacts insured/injured party within 24 hours from the initial report of claim to gather information regarding injuries and other pertinent information. Inputs all claim information into the diary system to accurately monitor the status of the claim. 
  • Adjusts the PIP claim including gathering medical documents and other information from insured/injured party, medical providers and/or employer; contacting medical providers for status of medical treatment and maximum medical improvement date; verifying PIP benefits through telephone inquires from medical providers; requesting medical records from medical providers to support billed services; responding to attorney request for policy information and PIP payment information; requesting independent medical evaluations; and conducting recorded statements from insureds with attorney representation.
  • Coordinates payments to medical providers and insureds within specified timeframe in accordance to PIP regulations including calculating interest on claims, paying PIP bills under percentage allowed under PIP benefits and calculating amount paid under PIP benefits to determine if benefits are exhausted. Utilizes internal claims system to administer accurate payments.
  • Works closely with intermediate and/or advanced level PIP adjusters regarding complex claims to determine the best course of action for accurate claim resolution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

One-two years of PIP claims adjusting experience and basic understanding of personal injury protection laws, regulations and statues required.

 

Basic working knowledge of CPT billing practices & procedures and the ability to utilize medical reference books to research information is needed.

 

Experience with Microsoft Office required.
