Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor, Physical Damage, this position is primarily responsible for inspecting and estimating property damage claims in the field while staying in compliance with company guidelines.  Other essential job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Inspecting and estimating property damage losses.
  • Preparing estimates using estimating software.
  • Maintaining a daily log of assignments, mileage and expenses.
  • Contacting insureds and/or claimants on a daily basis to set appointments for the following day.
  • Calling in total loss evaluation to determine the actual cash value (ACV) of appraised vehicles.
  • Investigating availability of alternative part sources when preparing damage estimate.
  • Thoroughly documenting each appraisal procedure to support work performed and the results obtained.
  • Handling a variety of minor appraisal tasks on a repetitive basis.
  • Tracking and preparing reports supporting appraisal data to present to Management on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's licence is required.
  • A minimum of three to five years Body Shop or Appraiser experience is required.
  • Experience using an Electronic Estimating System such as CCC, ADP, Mitchell.
  • Proficiency with a PC and Microsoft applications such as Word, Windows and Excel.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Requires the ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), as well as the calculation of averages and percentages.
